Oriel application Deadline

Don't be that person!

Every year there will always be 1 or 2 people across the UK that forget to do this.

Please please please (genuinely please) don't let it be you.

Do you know what I am talking about?

ORIEL APPLICATION DEADLINE!

It is Friday- if you have already submitted your application, then give yourself a pat on the back. Well done- first hurdle jumped.

If you have not- then stop reading this, open another tab on your phone/computer for oriel and finish your application.

Have any last minute questions for your university? Email them tonight, follow up in person and try to submit your application before 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday). Why Wednesday? Everyone can have an IT disaster. I myself came within minutes of the DCT3 application process closing before I clicked the button... and heart racing as I watched the web page load. I realised I should not have left it to the last minute as this application form is nothing but a check list of information.

Remember my advice from the DFT recruitment guide?

If not check back through this. Ideally (but not fully necessary) I would advise you to create a new email address for this application process. Add this email account to your phone and set this account to "push" notification so that it will alert you to any problems with your dental life.

You can also set the log in details for this email address on your computer to "remember you". This is a new account, and you could forget the log in details after all the "fun" you jam into the next few months revising for finals

Having a separate email account is an excellent start for your dental career- you will never miss an important email by avoiding your email account which only receives notifications of birthdays from people you do not hang around with anymore.

If you have already sent your oriel application with your personal email do not panic- don't change it now. However do make sure you have signed up to our newsletter to make sure you are kept up to date with all of these tips, and I will remind you next year about the email address when you have finished your oriel application.

Situational Judgement Test practice question- consider the following scenario:

You are working as a Foundation Dentist (FD) and you remember back when you were a student, and someone didn't submit their oriel application on time. Looking back- what would you do differently? Which Standards of the Dental Team do you feel are important to consider?

Answer:

Whatsapp/text/Instagram all of your friends and tell them:

  1. To visit this website (https://DentalSJT.com) and sign up to the newsletter to be kept up to date with your DFT recruitment
  2. Submit their oriel application before Friday

This weeks blog post was a bit more comical than usual- but I am serious there will be someone who does not submit their Oriel appliaction and it is completely avoidable! If you have any last minute questions about your application you know the drill- Instagram DM us or send me an email and I will try my best to help.
